A Major Cave-In

I've intentionally held out on participating in any of the major Social Networking sites. Several reasons led me to that decision.

  1. Peer Pressure: "Everybody is doing it..." and I didn't want to!
  2. Design Limits: Facebook does not allow you to design the actual look of your site. While it does provide for an easy way to put information online as well as add what they call "applications", it does not even give you the ability to change the background color!

Why then have I signed up for a Facebook account?

After just a few days of playing with my new account, I have been able to reconnect with people that I haven't talked to in several years. It is interesting to browse through peoples' pictures, comments, and profiles.

Camp Forest Springs is continuing to look for new ways to reconnect with our constituents. My supervisor feels that this might be a positive way to provide speedy information. So, call this job research!

Two New Videos

I posted two videos that I created for Camp Forest Springs 50th Anniversary Celebration at April’s and my Blog.

The first one is entitled “A Man of Vision” and is designed to be a brief introduction of Camp’s history and is to be played at the beginning of this summer’s events.

The second one is “Letters & Stories”.  It is a testimony video compiled from letters Camp has received over the last number of years.

Swing on over and let me know what you think!

Asalonna

Update - We released the site this afternoon!  Check it out here.

My sister works at A’salonna, an Aveda beauty salon in Stillwater, MN.  When they needed an upgrade to their website, she contacted me.

I did both the site concept and design as well as the coding.  This was the first site that I built upon the open-source platform, Wordpress.  One of the key features that Joleigh and the rest of the salon team wanted was the ability to edit and manage all of their pages.  Wordpress offered that.

Jason’s Senior Portraits

Jason was over at Camp volunteering for our Memorial Day Family Weekend.  He needed his senior portraits done, so we took some time this afternoon and here’s some of the results.

Here is the entire gallery.

Michael & Lisa

Michael and Lisa both work at Camp Forest Springs with April and I.  They knew each other for something like 6 years prior to dating.  They began dating last fall, and early this spring, they got engaged.

I was privileged to be asked to take their engagement photos.
