A Major Cave-In
I've intentionally held out on participating in any of the major Social Networking sites. Several reasons led me to that decision.
- Peer Pressure: "Everybody is doing it..." and I didn't want to!
- Design Limits: Facebook does not allow you to design the actual look of your site. While it does provide for an easy way to put information online as well as add what they call "applications", it does not even give you the ability to change the background color!
Why then have I signed up for a Facebook account?
After just a few days of playing with my new account, I have been able to reconnect with people that I haven't talked to in several years. It is interesting to browse through peoples' pictures, comments, and profiles.
Camp Forest Springs is continuing to look for new ways to reconnect with our constituents. My supervisor feels that this might be a positive way to provide speedy information. So, call this job research!
